Miles Roby betreibt hier ein kleines Restaurant. Dessen Besitzerin, Francine Whiting, macht ihm das Leben schwer.
Außerdem muss sich Miles um seinen gescheiterten Vater, seine Exfrau Janine und seine Tochter Tick kümmern.

Bill sah echt schick aus in dieser Folge, ich liebe es wenn er Uniformen trägt

Die Geschichte selbst fand ich eigentlich nicht besonders interessant. Irgendwie habe ich gar nicht richtig verstanden, um was es da ging.  
Hoffentlich wird der 2. Teil spannender.

Ja, diese blaue Uniform steht ihm gut.

Wenn du diese Folge langweilig fandest, dann wird dich die nächste auch nicht aus den Schuhen hauen...
Die ist nämlich auch nicht viel anders. Die Story plätschert halt gemächlich vor sich hin und irgendwie konnte ich ihr manchmal auch nicht so richtig folgen. Da wusste ich öfter auch mal nicht, um was es eigentlich geht und wie die Zusammenhänge genau sind...

Da die eigentlich 4 Teile zu zweien zusammen gefasst worden sind, ist die nächste ZDF-Folge dann sozusagen Teil 3+4.

Jawoll, Bill machte als Polizist eine klasse Figur.
Aber: die Synchronstimme fand ich blöd, die passte überhaupt nicht zu ihm.
Da sehe ich mir lieber die Ausschnitte auf Youtube an, da spricht nämlich seine wundervolle Originalstimme!!!

Ja, die fand ich auch ein bissl komisch, da ich haupsächlich die Mahone-Synchronstimme gewohnt bin..

'Empire Falls' is a damn good movie. Wonderful cast, brilliant cinematography, excellent story.
I read Richard Russo book after I saw EF and I must say I enjoyed the novel a little bit less than a movie. Of course it was fun to read the book, because I had the people of Empire Falls and the city, and Martha’s Vineyard before my eyes. In book Jimmy Minty is much worse man than in the movie. Bill’s Minty is a sweet man comparing to the monster from the book. But the rest of the characters are exactly the same like in the novel, esp. Silver Fox (Dennis Farrina).
One of the Fichtner movie I’d watch anyway - with or without William in it.

When I saw Empire Falls the first time, I thought it was boring. But now, after I have seen it 3 or 4 times, I love it. It was a real good story and I like Jimmy Minty too. I didn't read the book, but I am glad, they changed his character, and let him be a good guy in the movie.

I have to admit I preferred the book. But then, Richard Russo is one of my favorite authors and I love almost all his books.
The film was ok, but the characterizations in the book are definitely better. I didn't think Jimmy Minty was a monster in the book. He certainly was an asshole, but he was that in the film as well, only not quite as much.

I guess "monster" is too strong word.  But I felt very uncomfortable reading about Minty's dark thoughts and desires, he even scared me. Probably it was caused by fact that I saw movie first with William as more gentle Minty and the difference between two Mintys was too big, IMHO.
I enjoyed the book very much. I have the feeling though that if I read the novel before I saw the movie, I would like it even more. I was obviously "spoilered", I knew how the story ends, all mysteries, etc. It was rather like extended version of the film, with some new scenes and lot of extras about the characters. When you discover all the story for the first time by reading and imagining, it's much more entertaining and it's an unforgettable experience. But if you already know all the story, it's not that strong.

I love good stories about common people and their lives, "Empire Falls" is perfect for me.
